y: Improving Efficiency and Technology - is focused on the review of rece
nt algorithmic and mathematical advances and the development of new resea
rch directions for uncertainty quantification in the setting of partial di
fferential equations with random inputs. As such\, the workshop impacts t
he scientific\, engineering\,financial\, economic\, environmental\, socia
l\, and commercial milieus.\n\nExpected outcome and impact of workshop\n\
nThe workshop focuses on the among most promising approaches for near-futu
re improvements in the way uncertainty quantification problems in the par
tial differential equation setting are solved. Expected outcomes of the w
orkshop include:\n\n\n the construction of guidelines for the most promisi
ng directions of near-future research\n synergistic exchanges across topic
s facilitated by the commonality of algorithms used for more than one top
ic\n the exchange\, among participants in each focus topic of the workshop
\, of recent and even unpublished progress and results\n exposure of a si
zable group of junior researchers already active in uncertainty quantifica
tion research to new problem areas and new directions for their research.
\n\n\nThe central of objectives of the workshop are to gather together bot
h senior and junior researchers:\n\n\n to exchange the latest knowledge an
d results each of these participants brings to the table\n to provide guid
elines for the most promising approaches for near-future research\n to pro
vide junior researchers with new problems that they can incorporate into t
heir research plans.\n\n\nTo maximize the probability of success in meetin
g these objectives and to therefore have maximum impact on the UQ communi
ty\, the workshop will focus on problems with a high number of random para
meters and on specific avenues that have recently shown considerable prom
ise. Specifically\,\n\n\n reduced order modeling\n more efficient solvers
\n high-dimensional approximation\n applications \n\n\nWorkshop Structure
\n\nThe workshop will be of 3.5 days\; each day will be dedicated to one o
f the four workshop themes above. There will be 10 talks per day (by invit
ation only) given by 5 senior and 5 junior speakers. The applications-sess
ion will be on the last day and it will have 5 senior speakers only. Each
day will end with a discussion session where participants will review the
talks of the day and discuss what are the most important research directio
ns that should be pursued in the future.\nAlso\, there will be a poster se
