Practical Information
Venue & how to reach it
The meeting will be hosted at the Kavli Institute for Cosmology in Cambridge (UK). The easiest entrance to the building is through the Institue of Astronomy in Madingley road (Google map).
More comprehensive information on how to reach the venue can be found here.
The closest airport is London Stansted. Both Stansted and London Gatwick airport are directly connected to Cambridge via train.
Taxi from Stansted to Cambridge should cost 50 - 60 GBP (~40min depending on traffic).
If you are flying to Heathrow airport, we recommend checking the National Express website for direct buses (cheaper if pre-booked), or taking the Elizabeth line to Liverpool st. station, where you can take a train to Cambridge.
Cambridge has direct train connection to London (Kings Cross / St. Pancras, Liverpool st., London bridge, Farrindgon) that go through Stansted airport, and to Brighton, that stop at Gatwick airport (Thameslink trains).
Suggested Hotels
A list of accommodation is available on the Kavli institute website.
The new development of Eddington (10-15min walk to the institute) has two hotels (Hyatt, Turing Locke).
Note Churchill college is not available during term time. Rooms can be booked through the University at the Moller institute at an approximate discounted rate of roughtly 110GBP/night including breakfast (final price to be confirmed conditional on number of participants). Please register quickly as the offer is conditional to availability of the rooms and we need an approximate number to start the procedure.
Social Events
self-organized Social dinner will be held on Nov 12, location TBD.
Lunch Options
Coffee and refreshments will be available next to the room.
No lunch planned on site, but several catering options are available close to the institute at multiple university canteens (more details here):
- West Hub (5min walk, multiple options)
- Churchill College Dining Hall (5 min)
- Greenwich house (2min walk, light bites cold and hot)
Visiting Cambridge
If you are arriving a day earlier or leaving a day later be aware that office space will be very limited, potentially non existent. Let us know if this is the case and we will try to arrange for a desk.
Monday is the Cambridge joint cosmology seminar day (held at DAMTP 1pm).
Thursday is day of the CMB/LSS internal group meeting at KICC where other cosmology talks are hosted.
