How to reach Trieste:
The easiest ways to reach Trieste are by train or by plane.
There are cheap "Regionale" trains departing from Venice S.Lucia/Mestre multiple times a day and arriving at Trieste Centrale train station. You can reach Venice S.Lucia/Mestre with high-speed train from most italian cities.
The closest airports to Trieste are Trieste Airport and Venice Airport. From there, you can take either a "Regionale" train or a bus to Trieste Centrale.
Your accommodation will be reachable in a 15 minutes walk from the train station.
Train tickets can be purchased from the Trenitalia app.
How to reach SISSA:
You can reach SISSA by bus, and the best choice is bus 38, which departs every 20 minutes (e.g. 8:00, 8:20, 8:40, etc.) from piazza Oberdan and arrives at SISSA. The trip usually takes around 15 minutes. The bus departs from SISSA every 20 minutes (e.g. 17:10, 17:30, 17:50, ...) and reaches piazza Oberdan. Bus tickets can be purchased:
- from the app Tpl Fvg
- in a tobacconist's shop, from a newspaper seller or using ticket vending machines
At SISSA you can find them at the cafeteria and at the ticket vending machine near the 38 bus stop.
