How to reach Trieste:
The easiest ways to reach Trieste are by train or by plane.
By train: there are cheap regional trains departing from Venice S.Lucia/Mestre multiple times a day and arriving at Trieste Centrale. Venice S.Lucia/Mestre can be reached by high-speed trains from most Italian cities.
By plane: the closest airports to Trieste are Trieste Airport and Venice Marco Polo Airport. From there, you can take either a regional train or a Flixbus to Trieste Centrale.
Your accommodation will be a 15 minutes walk away from the train station.
Train tickets can be purchased from the Trenitalia app.
How to reach SISSA:
SISSA is reachable by bus 38, which departs every 20 minutes (e.g. 8:00, 8:20, 8:40, etc.) from piazza Oberdan. SISSA is the last stop. The trip takes around 15 minutes.
Buses departing from SISSA leave every 20 minutes (e.g. 17:10, 17:30, 17:50, ...) and reach piazza Oberdan.

Bus tickets can be purchased:
- on the app Tpl Fvg (validate them with the QR code on the bus)
- in a tobacconist's shop, from a newspaper seller or using ticket vending machines at bus stops
- on the bus, using a debit/credit card (hold your card against the validating machines on board the bus)
At SISSA, bus tickets can be purchased at the ticket vending machine near the bus stop.
