How to reach Trieste

Arriving from Trieste Airport (formerly Ronchi dei Legionari Airport) you can reach Trieste by:

1. Train

Trenitalia is the primary train operator in Italy

NOTE: You must authenticate the train ticket at one of the machines located in the terminal before boarding the train.

There are train services available about 30 minutes in length and start at 4.40€/person one way. The train station at the airport towards Trieste can be reached by a walkway from the airport (called the Intermodal HUB).  Trieste Centrale is the final stop and it will drop you off at the Autostazione/Main Bus and Train Terminal “Trieste Centrale” which is across from Piazza Libertà.

2. Taxi

Taxis are located outside the airport entrance, the cost of a taxi from Trieste Airport to Trieste Centrale can start from 65€.

Note: additional charges may be applied by taxi.

We suggest booking your train tickets well ahead of time as some services require booking prior to arrival and sometimes the option of purchasing online becomes unavailable due to seat sales (Trenitalia).

Once you arrive in Trieste, by means of a train or bus you will be positioned in Trieste’s main bus and train terminal, additional buses and taxis are available to take you to your accommodations.

Arriving from Venice Airport (Marco Polo):

You can reach Trieste from the Venice Marco Polo Airport by bus or train.

The Venice (Mestre) Train station can be reached from the Venice Marco Polo airport by shuttle bus (ATVO Fly Bus), travel time is usually 20 minutes, and tickets can be purchased at the airport.

Once at the train station (Venezia Mestre) you can take the train (Trenitalia) to Trieste Centrale, travel time is usually from 2-2.5 hours depending on the time and can start at a cost of 14€/person one way. This may be considered the fastest way as there is currently construction on the highway to Trieste.

Another option is FLiXBUS an intercity coach service providing direct services between Venice Airport and Trieste Centrale.

Arriving from Treviso Airport:

From the Treviso airport take the Treviso Airlink (bus) to the train station (Treviso Centrale) then take the train (Trenitalia) to Trieste Centrale.

The number of train stops varies as well as prices. The travel time is roughly 3 hours and can start at 16€/person one way.

The complementary Pullman timetable will be:

Monday 4t 8:20

No return trip.
